Our Services

Studio 123 is licensed by the Ministry of Education to provide full time childcare for children ages 3 months to 4 years. It is a non-profit agency, run by a volunteer board of directors. Studio 123 implements a play-based emergent curriculum approach promoting play as a platform for literacy, numeracy and inquiry. We are located downtown in the Urbanspace building at the south-east corner of Richmond Street West and Spadina Avenue.

Our Philosophy.

The basic philosophy of Studio 123 Early Learning Centre is in keeping with the vision outlined in Ontario’s pedagogy for the early years “How Does Learning Happen” (2014). We believe that for children to grow and flourish they need to have a sense of belonging, a sense of well-being, they need to be engaged and active learners and they need to become capable communicators able to express themselves in a variety of ways. Our environment is accessible and inclusive and we view all children as being “competent, capable, curious and rich in potential”. (Ministry of Education, 2014)

Our Community.

At Studio 123 we view families as partners in their children’s education and work to engage families in daily dialogues regarding their child’s learning and development. This unique environment at 401 Richmond Street West is special in that it is small (30 children) and very much a part of the Urbanspace community and all it has to offer.

Our Program.

Our curriculum provides opportunities for children to be active and creative both indoors and outdoors. We provide healthy, culturally diverse foods that are primarily local and organic and are served in a positive eating environment.

Studio 123 is a bright space showered in natural light. The children’s outdoor space is a beautiful courtyard filled with all types of greenery.
